This Refund Policy applies to purchases of Aether Shards, the premium currency used at the Aether Vault to open randomized loot Caches in Karthwyld.
1. Digital Goods Disclosure
Aether Shards are digital goods. Once Shards are credited to your account they are deemed delivered. By completing a purchase, you acknowledge that you receive immediate access to the goods and you expressly consent to the supply of those goods before any statutory cooling-off period expires. You acknowledge that this consent extinguishes the right to withdraw under EU Consumer Rights Directive (Article 16(m)) and equivalent regimes.
2. When We Will Issue a Refund
We will refund a Shard purchase in any of the following cases:
- Failed delivery. Payment was charged but Shards were never credited to your account due to a technical fault on our side. Email us with the Stripe receipt and we will either credit the Shards or refund the charge.
- Unauthorized use. The purchase was made without your authorization (for example, by a child using your card). Contact us as soon as you become aware. We may request reasonable information to verify the claim.
- Within 14 days of purchase, if no Shards have been spent. We will refund pristine, unspent purchases at our discretion as a goodwill gesture.
- Required by law. Where local consumer- protection law gives you a refund right we cannot disclaim, we will honour it.
3. When We Will Not Issue a Refund
- Shards already spent. Once Shards have been used to open Caches, they are consumed. We cannot refund the value of opened Caches based on the items received (or not received) from the random roll.
- Buyer’s remorse on opened Caches. Cache contents are randomized and disclosed as such; an unlucky roll is not grounds for a refund.
- Account violations. Where Shards or items have been forfeited under our Terms of Service for cheating, chargeback abuse, or other breach.
4. How Refunds Affect Your Balance
If we issue a refund for an unspent purchase, the corresponding Shards are removed from your account. If a portion of the purchased Shards has been spent before the refund is processed, we will reverse only the unspent portion (to a minimum of zero); the spent portion is forfeited and will not be re-credited.
5. Chargebacks
Disputing a charge with your bank rather than contacting us first delays resolution and may result in suspension of your account pending review. Most issues can be resolved by emailing support@karthwyld.com.
6. How to Request a Refund
Email us at support@karthwyld.com with:
- The email address on your Karthwyld account.
- The date and amount of the purchase (Stripe receipt is ideal).
- A short description of why you are requesting a refund.
We aim to respond within five (5) business days. Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method via Stripe and typically appear within 5–10 business days, depending on your bank.
7. Free Shards
Shards awarded promotionally or as a goodwill credit have no cash value and are non-refundable.
8. Changes
We may update this Refund Policy from time to time. Any change will be reflected by an updated effective date at the top of this page. Changes apply to purchases made after the new effective date; purchases already made are governed by the policy in effect at the time.
